Publisher Guidance

Step 6. What happens after publishing

What happens now, and what to do next.

What to expect when you publish your data

Once you publish your 360Giving data, a few things will happen.

  1. The day after you’ve submitted the link to your data file to our Data Quality Dashboard, your grants will appear in our tools GrantNav and GrantVis.
  2. Our system fetches grants data from all 360Giving publishers once every night, so depending what time of day you sent us the live link to your file, it could be 24 hours before your data appears in our tools.
  3. Once you can see your data in GrantNav and GrantVis, you may notice errors that you hadn’t spotted before. You can change or update your data at any time, but the changes won’t appear instantly.
  4. You will get an email with links to your data in our tools, as well as an analysis of how your grants data overlaps with what other UK grantmakers have published.

We will also send a congratulations email to the leadership contact you provided to us acknowledging your organisation’s achievement!

Welcome to the open grants data movement

You’ve joined the UK’s leading funders by sharing your grants data. You are helping to build a clearer picture of grantmaking across the UK, facilitating more informed, evidence-based and strategic grantmaking.

There are benefits for your organisation as well.

Explore your data

You can view your grants data in depth using our GrantNav search engine, and explore the wider context through our annual research project UKGrantmaking, which combines 360Giving data with information from other sources.

Display your data

Your data will appear in GrantVis, our data visualisation tool, where you can view maps and charts all about your grantmaking.

As a 360Giving publisher, you can also use one of our custom, interactive widgets to easily display your data on your website or intranet.

Use your data

When you can see the reach and the impact of your grantmaking more clearly, you can draw on insights from your data to inform your funding priorities and strategy. Our data consultancy service can help you to find the answers you are looking for and get the most out of your data.

Keep learning

Continue developing data skills and knowledge in your organisation with our free training and workshops and 1-1 data support calls. We can also work with you to create bespoke in-house training.

You can find more details about all of these in Stage 4: Post-publish.
