Publisher Guidance

Publisher resources

We’ve designed three resources to support you with planning and documenting your progress through the 360Giving data publishing process.

  • Use the publishing project plan to plan and coordinate your process
  • Use the checklist to keep track of key tasks and decisions
  • Use the Publisher logbook to note key information about your publishing process and data for future reference

360Giving Publishing project plan

What is it?

This publishing project plan template is a practical resource designed to help you plan and execute the project of publishing grants data using 360Giving Data Standard.

Who is it for?

This plan is aimed at first-time publishers, particularly larger organisations that need to coordinate resources across multiple people or teams.

  • If you’re from a smaller organisation, you might still find it useful and can adapt it by deleting anything that isn’t relevant.
  • If you are an existing publisher, you may still find it useful if you are changing the way you prepare and publish your 360Giving data, for example, because you are moving to a new grants management system.

How do you use it?

The template includes sections setting out the purpose, roles, and key tasks involved in publishing.

  • Fill in the blanks by overwriting the highlighted prompts with specific information relevant to your organisation.
  • Feel free to customise it to fit your needs by removing or adding sections.

360Giving publishing checklist

What is it?

This document compiles the checklists for each stage of the publishing process into a single handy document to help you keep track of your progress.

Who is it for?

The checklist is suitable for both first-time publishers working through the entire publishing process and existing publishers.

  • If you’re an existing publisher, you won’t need to repeat all the steps. Tasks for first-time publishers that don’t need to be repeated each time are marked with *

How do you use it?

  • Check off the tasks as you progress through the stages of the publishing process.
  • It can be used on its own to keep track of publishing tasks or used in conjunction with the 360Giving Publishing project plan.
  • You can customise it to fit your needs by adding or deleting tasks. Tasks that you only need to do when publishing data for the first time are marked with *

360Giving Publisher Logbook

What is it?

This resource helps you record your decisions and important information about your 360Giving data and publishing process, so that you can refer back to them when it’s time to re-publish.

Who is it for?

  • Once filled in your logbook will provide an overview of your publishing history and process in a single document
  • It will be particularly helpful for anyone who takes over the preparation and publication of your 360Giving data in the future.

How do you use it?

The Publisher Logbook is designed to be a living document.

  • Fill in the blanks by overwriting the highlighted prompts with specific information relevant to your organisation.
  • Each time you publish, review and update the information that has changed to keep the Logbook up to date
