Publisher Guidance

Step 4. Improving when you re-publish

Look for opportunities to improve the quality of your grants data.

Keep improving your data quality

We hope that publishing your 360Giving data has helped you get to know what data your organisation holds, as well as better understand your systems and processes.

If you find that you need to spend a lot of time fixing quality issues with your data, it could be worth providing more training or guidance for people who are collecting or entering data into your systems. You may be able to add validation to some forms or fields, so that any errors will be flagged immediately.

It’s also a good idea to schedule routine data cleaning, if you can. Good quality data will be more useful for your organisation’s needs, as well as for GrantNav and other tools.

Increase the scope of your data

To make your data even more useful and tell a more accurate story about your grantmaking, think about whether there are any more types of information you could share. For example, if your data doesn’t include grant durations, could you include these next time you publish?

If you need to collect this data for the first time, it may take some time to update your systems or data collection processes to collect it. Consider adding this to your upcoming organisational priorities.
