Publisher Guidance
Step 2. Learn about extensions
Extensions can offer optional extra fields for your 360Giving data.
Extensions
Funders sometimes want to publish information which is not part of the 360Giving Data Standard. You can use ‘additional fields’ in your data to do this, but these fields aren’t recognised as part of the Standard. This means that they can’t be checked using our Data Quality Checker or used to filter data in GrantNav and GrantVis.
Extensions to the 360Giving Data Standard are a way to address this by introducing new optional fields for 360Giving data. An extension has defined fields and rules which can be recognised by our tools. This makes it possible for information shared by different publishers to be collected and compared.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Data Standard Extension
So far, there is one approved extension, which allows funders to publish DEI Data Standard data alongside their 360Giving data. The DEI Data Standard is a shared framework which aims to categorise organisations either led by, or targeting and supporting groups experiencing structural inequity. It was developed by a group of UK funders called the DEI Data Group, who believe that without an effective framework to capture equity data there can be no effective action to identify and target funding to address structural inequity.
