When to use this guide
Use this to look up a specific funder and see their grants and recipients.
What you’ll get
You’ll be able to see all grants from that funder and explore or download a list of recipients they’ve supported.
You’ll need
- A funder’s name (or part of it). If you’re not sure of the exact name, use Funder search on the GrantNav homepage.
Example: Paul Hamlyn Foundation - (Optional) A date range
Example: April 2023 to March 2025
Tip: Interpreting your results
Search results are based on data published using the 360Giving Standard. Results may vary depending on what data has been published.
Check:
- The number of grants
- The total funding amount
- The date range
- The names and number of funders and recipient orgs
This helps you understand how broad or focused your results are, and what kind of activities they relate to.
Steps
1. Open Grants search
On the GrantNav homepage, select Grants search to open a search results page.

2. Filter by funder
In the filters, select Funding Organisations.
Start typing the organisation name, and select it to apply a filter.

The results update to show all grants given by that funder.

3. View the funder’s organisation page
In any grant record, select the Funder’s name. This opens the funder’s page.

On the funder’s page, you’ll see a summary of grants and a table of recipients you can search, sort, or download.

4. Explore and refine your search
Select Explore Grants to go back to GrantNav search results.
The funder filter will still be applied. You can further refine your results using the available filters.

a. Filter by grant programme title
In the Funder filter, open Grant Programme Title.
Open the list by selecting the search box.

Select a programme name to see grants awarded under that programme.

b. Filter by date
To find grants in a particular date range, use the Award Date filter.
You can:
- Enter a From date to see grants from that month and year onwards
Example: April 2023 - Enter a To date to see grants up to that date
Example: March 2025 - Enter both a From date and To date for a specific range
- Or select one or more calendar years

Note that publishing frequency varies by funder, so more recent grants may not be consistently available from all funders.
6. Download your results
To export a spreadsheet of your results, select Download as CSV.
You can use Microsoft Excel or a similar program to filter, sort, and analyse further, including:
- Identifying top funders or recipients
- The number of grants awarded
- The value of those grants
Use the Custom CSV option if you want to choose which columns to include in your download.

7. Visualise your results
Select Visualise your search results in GrantVis.
This opens an interactive summary where you can explore:
- Key funders, sorted by number of grants
- Types of funders and recipients
- Typical grant amounts
- Recipient locations, where available
